“We need the courage to start and continue what we should do, and the courage to stop what we shouldn’t do

Richard L. Evans

REFLECTION: To me the quote by Evans means that we should have the courage to do right, and to stop what’s wrong. We shouldn’t be afraid to end something that’s not right, we need courage, and only courage can help you. So don’t be afraid to say no to the bad things and remember

 CHOOSE the RIGHT!!!!!

Student Responsibilities

Part 3

What is important to you is that you, as you start to reach milestones in your ambitions, you appreciate your own achievements. I t is a boost, of course, if others appreciate what you have done too, but appr- eciating yourself will strengthen your self-belief, and reinforce your determination to succeed.

Some of the key characteristics you will find in those who are successful are perseverance, prepared to research, plan and work hard, practice a lot even when things do not seem to be going well, and an ability to recover and learn from setbacks. At the outset of whatever it is you are trying to successes in, a strong vision of your  future, planning, and setting yourself achievable targets can all play an important role.

I f you feel you do not naturally have all those characteristics, then do not despair . Each of them can be accomplished by your own application. You can use medication and visualization techniques to initiate you vision , and they can certainly be learnt both for that purpose and  for each step you take to reach your goals. Setting goals and objectives can be a personal or business technique that can be learnt. You can develop inner strength to succeed if you apply yourself to doing just that: that will enable you to recover from setbacks more easily.

Student Responsibilities

Part 1

Students have the right to seize the responsibility for their own destiny and should be encouraged to dos so. With every right comes responsibility.

1.   I have the responsibility to come to every class prepared to listen, to participate, and to learn.

2.   I have the responsibility to read the text carefully, noting important ideas and rephrasing concepts in my own words.

3.   I have the responsibility to work examples in the textbook ad those given in class.

4.   I have the responsibility to consult other students, the teacher, an assistant, and other resources whenever I need the extra help.

5.   I have the responsibility to understand that the teacher is not primarily responsible for making me understand that the teacher is not primarily responsible for making me understand, but that it is my job to study and to learn.

6.   I have the responsibility of keeping an open mind and trying to comprehend what the teacher is trying to get across.

“My basic principle is that you don’t make decisions because they are easy: you don’t make them because that are cheap: you don’t make them because you’re popular, you make them because they are right.

-Theodore Hesburgh

Reflection: To me the quote by Theodore means that decisions aren’t made because of what people think, you make them because within yourself they are right. The popular, cheap, or easy decisions are not decisions if they are not right. So concluding my reflection I would like to stress once more decision are made because they are right, so remember Choose the Right!!!!!!!

The only thing to do is try to make good decisions so you get good results rather than bad consequences. And remember always chose the right!!!!!!

Successful Students

Part 2

4. Successful students learn that a student and a teacher make a team. Moat teachers want exactly what you want: they would like for you to learn the material in their respective classes and earn a good grade.

Successful students reflect well on the efforts of any teacher; if you have learned your material, the instructor takes some justifiable pride in teaching. Join forces with your instructor, they are not an enemy, you share the same interest, the same goal- in short, you’re teammates. Get to know tour professor. You’re the most valuable players on the same team. Your jobs are to work together for mutual success. Neither wishes to chalk up a losing season. Be a team player!

5. Successful students don’t sit in the back. Successful students minimize classroom districts that interfere with learning .Student want the best seat available for their entertainment  dollars, but willingly seek the worst seat for their educational.

“I am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true. I  must stand with anybody that stands right, and stand with him while he Is right, and part with him when goes wrong.”

Abraham Lincoln

Reflection: The statement buy Abraham Lincoln to me means that not always is someone going to win, and it is preferable if you stick with  people who choose the right, and accompany them when they are choosing the wrong and advise them , help them through the rough times. No-one is perfect.

Successful People

Part 1

Successful students exhibit a combination of successful attitudes and behaviors as well as intellectual capacity. Successful students

1.       Successful students are responsible and active. Successful students get involved in their studies, accept responsibility for their own education, and are active participants in it!

Responsibility means control. It’s the difference between leading and being led. Your own efforts control your grade, you earn the glory or deserve the blame, you make the choice. Active classroom participation improves grades without increasing study time. You can sit there, act bored, daydream, or sleep. Or, you can actively listen, think, question, and take notes like someone in charge of their learning experience. Either option cost one class period. However, the former method will require a large degree  of additional work outside of class to achieve the same degree of learning the latter provides at one sitting. The choice is yours.

Characteristics of A Successful Student

Httt://academic.cuesta.edu/acasupp/as/201.HTM

Many students do not know what it takes to be successful in the education environment. They understand good and bad grades in a general way, and they sense that they should attend classes, but that is where their knowledge begins and ends.

Moat instructors know what a good student id – and are not. For one thing, a good student not necessarily the most intelligent individual ion the class.

The following is a list of some characteristics of good students. This list is a description of what a hard working student does and what a teacher likes to see. By learning these characteristics, you may better understand the day-today and lass –to-class behavior of successful students. “Great beauty, great strength, and great riches are really and truly of no great use: a right heart exceeds all.”

-Benjamin Franklin

Reflection: To me the quote by Benjamin Franklin means that with everything in the world if you don’t have a good heart nothing else matters. For example someone who is rich, beautiful/handsome, and has everything in the world you can imagine has nothing towards a person who has the right heart. So if your heart is set right everything else kin of just fall into place.

“Right is right, even if everyone is against it. Wrong is wrong, even if everyone is for it”

--William Penn

Reflection: To me the quote by William Penn means that everyone should follow the right, a lot of times people will go against on doing what’s right, and go for the wrong. In general if you think something is right then let it be, don’t let what others people think influence your choice, after all its your choice!

50 Habits of Successful People

(Habits 44-47)

44. They don’t rationalize failure. While many are talking about their age, their  sore back, their lack of time, their poor genetics, their “bad luck”, their nasty boss and their lack of opportunities (all good reasons to fail), they are finding a way  to succeed despite all their challenges.

45. They have an off switch. They know how to relax, enjoy what they have in life and to have fun.

46. Their career is not their identity, it’s their job. It’s not who they are, are. It’s what they do.

47. They are more interested in effective than they are in easy. While the majority look for the quickest, easiest  (the shortcut). They look for the course of action which will produce the best results over the long term.

“It may make a difference to all eternity whether we do right or wrong today”

--James Freeman Clark

Reflection: To me this quote by James Freeman Clark means that your choices now reflect upon your entire life, or your future. So ta say you make a bad choice now you will have to live with the consequences of your bad choice. Were as someone who makes good  choices will live with good choices. So to summarize what you do now will affect your life in the future.

LITTLE KID REFLECTION

Reflection: The on story about Ian was very nice to hear, it made my day. If I am talking logistics a lot of people would of not done that. I mean when someone gets the chance to catch a MLG baseball, mostly never. Ian caught a baseball and gave it up, he gave it up!, he left feeling good about himself, on knowing he did the right thing. He also went to his seat thinking of getting nothing in return, but he did, he got a signed bat by Justin Upton, and four free games.  Something to keep in mind would have to be, when you do something right you don’t always get something in return, but you get to feel good about yourself.

“It’s not living that matters, but living rightly”

Socrates

Reflection: to me the quote by Socrates means that living happily means “living” , living but being sad, glum is not living. To be living happily you have to be surrounded by the people you love, and be respected by them, have trust, confidence, etc.. Not living happily means to be living a lie full of misery and dismay.

31-35

50 Habits of Successful People

(Habits 32-35)

31. They are secure. They do not derive their sense of worth of self-form what they own, who they know, where they live or what they look like.

32. They are generous and kind. They take pleasure in helping others achieve.

33.  They are humble and they are happy to admit mistakes and to apologize. They are confident in their ability, but not arrogant. They are happy to learn from others. They are happy to make others look good rather than seek their own personal glory.

34. They are adaptable and embrace change, while the majority is creatures of comfort and habit. They are comfortable with, and embrace, the new and the unfamiliar.

50 Habits of Successful People

(Habits 21-30)

21. They don’t believe in, or wait for fate, destiny, chance, or luck to determine or shape their future. They believe in, and are committed to actively and consciously creating their own best life

23. They are more effective than most at managing their emotions. They feel like we all do but they are not slaves to their emotions.

24. They are good communicators and they consciously work at it.

25. They have a plan for their life and they work methodically at turning that plan into a reality. Their life is not a clumsy series of unplanned events and outcomes.

26. Their desire to be exceptional means that they typically do things that most won’t. They become optional by choice. Were all faced with life-shaping decisions almost daily. Successful people make the decisions that most wont and don’t.

Its certainly not a bad thing but ultimately: it’s just another resource. Unfortunately, too many people worship it

30. They understand the importance of discipline and self-control. They are happy to take the road less traveled.

“Ask yourself is it right or wrong and act accordingly.”

Otto Graham, Jr.

Reflection: To me the quote by Graham means to ask yourself in every situation you are in is this wrong or right and act according to your response. For example, someone offers you the answers to a test for 20 dollars, after you’ve though upon it you say that cheating is wrong. So your act would be saying NO to that person and perhaps the best thing to do would be to advise a teacher/mentor on that kid. To know if something is right or wrong would be up to you.

“True independence and freedom can only exist in what’s doing right”

Brigham Young

Reflection: to me the quote by young meant that if you do what’s right you will be “free” and “independent”. The only way to do what right is to choose the right you know in yourself when you’re doing right or wrong. There is difference between true independence and freedom to independence and freedom. True independence and freedom come from what choosing right were as independence and freedom don’t.
